SI GIBB

Year of Birth?
1983

Current place of residence?
Glasgow

How old were you when you first started riding and what got you into it?
I was 14 years old when I started riding BMX. Had some riders stay close so I had a shot of their bike’s one day and now I’m in the trap. Haha.

Style or stunts?
Bit of both.

What riders originally inspired you and who do you like watching now?
In the past hands down Joe Rich plus other riders in that era. Dan Lacy, Alex D and Gabe Brooks at the moment.

One-and-done or one-hundred tries?
420 and done.

Early start or sleep in?
Early start.

Tell us about moving to Glasgow and opening Substance BMX shop and how that is going?
Moving to Glasgow was definitely the right move for me, apart from the rain. The scene is strong, so much good riding from all ages. There wasn’t much planing behind Substance at first, it was all a bit freestyled at the beginning. I wanted a job that I enjoyed and would let me ride on a day to day basis too.

What was the first BMX video you owned?
Props 24

Night in or night out?
Bean out.

What BSD frame do you run and why did you choose it?
I run a 21.6″ Raider, clear coat raw. It’s quite a tractor but really sturdy and perfect for my height.

and how do you like to run your setup?
No brakes, 4 pegs, 45 psi and a fat seat.
